About Effective Counselling
Sheila Daly Founder of Effective Counselling Services is a fully qualified Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and practices within the ethical guidelines of the BACP. Sheila gained qualifications in Counselling Concepts (2005) Counselling Skills (2005) plus Person Cantered Counselling level four diploma. (2006)
Sheila was first inspired to return to study and became a counsellor because of her interest in personal development and her experiences of helping people who were facing a wide range of personal issues throughout her long career as a qualified successful dance and fitness teacher. Sheila has a special interest in helping people to resolve their problems. Her mission is to offer you an excellent provision of psychotherapy, counselling, life coaching and personal development training.
She has extensive experience of counselling a wide range of clients and helping them resolve their issues including anxiety, stress management, depression, low confidence, low self esteem, bereavement… Sheila uses a here and now approach, where she uses her skills to help you to explore your problems in a non-judgmental, accepting environment. She has worked as a Psychotherapist (GP's practices) and feels passionate about assisting and supporting young people to cope with their issues. Sheila states that she is privileged to have frequently worked with young people in secondary schools and youth clubs with challenging behaviour, socialisation and behavioural issues.
She draws from a wide range of counselling theories including Person Centred, utilising Integrative, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy ,Brief Solution Focused Therapy providing a none judgmental and accepting environment with the view of enabling you to empower yourself to overcome your issues and fulfil your potential. Her aim is to help you to understand that you have the resources to manage your own problems and therapy is a form of helping you finding and utilising those resources.
She has been practicing in Rochdale since 2006 and has set up and delivered a counselling service to young people at a local Community High School. In addition she works for a local mental health charity providing a counselling service in local GP practices. She also runs a private counselling practice whilst creating and delivering group workshops focusing on various topics including stress management, relaxation techniques, confidence building, overcoming anxiety…
Sheila is continually updating her extensive training including attending courses on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy ,Neurological Linguistic Programming, , Gestalt therapy, First Aid for Mental Health, Solution Focused Therapy plus many more hours of continuing professional development and mental health training.
